Based in Suffolk Jane paints from her studio overlooking the river Deben in Woodbridge. An integral aspect of her work is the texture which she creates by applying to the boards (on which she paints) up to 7 layers of her hand made rabbit skin gesso. This enables her to produce a distinctive impasto and wonderfully textured surface on which to paint, thus giving the colours a special clarity and warmth. The bases of her paintings are created from her plain-air sketches in watercolour which are then abstracted and reduced to their essential structures and colours.
